Waterman relocalizes

Waterman, one of the emblematic companies of the Nantes conurbation for more than 54 years, has decided to relocate part of its production. Some eight million units come out of the Saint-Herblain factory each year, not counting the ink and refills, which are also designed on site. A specific know-how, requiring many manual tasks, but weakened for twenty years by the rise of computers and smartphones. Fortunately, the start of the 2021 school year brings renewal, part of the automated production, which was formerly outsourced to Asia, will be reintegrated within the Saint-Herblain factory. Two new production lines will be put into service by the end of the year, an activity that was previously entrusted to its Chinese partners, but the group wanted to relocate it in order to strengthen the site. This change should allow for an increase in volumes of approximately 10%. A new line of eco-friendly packaging design will also be introduced. Consequence of these developments: the plant will be able to recruit between ten and twelve additional people.
