A new facility dedicated to the production of hemp insulation inaugurated in Vendée
The Vendée agricultural cooperative Cavac, through its subsidiary Cavac Biomatériaux, is strengthening its production of hemp-based insulation with the inauguration of a new factory, Biofib Isolation, in Sainte-Hermine, in Vendée. After 15 years of activity in Saint-Gemme-la-Plaine, this new 15,000 m² facility, unique in Europe, aims to meet the growing demand for bio-sourced materials. The investment amounts to more than 20 million euros, supported by partners such as the Pays de Loire region and ADEME. Hemp, which requires little water and has a low carbon footprint, is ideal for insulation, in line with the national low-carbon strategy. Biofib Isolation is involved in public worksites and projects outside Vendée, particularly in Paris. At the same time, Cavac Biomatériaux's R&D department is exploring new applications for hemp as a renewable resource, aiming to expand its offering beyond insulation.
