GammaScan® radioactivity detection portal

Description

More than twenty years ago, BERTHOLD FRANCE SAS specially developed a system to monitor radioactivity in vehicle loads entering or leaving the site.
The purpose of the GammaScan® measurement system is to identify , thanks to the gamma rays emitted, the presence of radioactive product when a vehicle passes at a given speed between the detection terminals.

The GammaScan® detects the presence of radioactive material emitting gamma radiation that can be loaded into vehicles containing scrap metal or waste from various sources.
The measurement system consists of two high-sensitivity scintillation detectors, placed just before the weighbridge, and an evaluation unit for the control. The optimal speed of the vehicle must be between 4 and 10 km/h when it comes between the two detection terminals to be checked there. A sound and light alarm integrated into the evaluation unit is activated when the preset threshold is exceeded on commissioning.
