VERREHAGET-VERRESATINE

THE QUARTZ

Description

The high Silica content of QUARTZ (greater than 99%) gives it good resistance to thermal shocks as well as a low coefficient of linear expansion while keeping it perfectly transparent. It can be heated and cooled rapidly with almost no risk of rupture, its very good resistance to most substances including acids allows it to be used in hostile environments. These dielectric properties, its low electrical conductivity, including at high temperature, and its low thermal conductivity make it the ideal material for electrical and thermal insulation. Its good transmission in the infrared and ultraviolet rays is also appreciated in optical applications. Like Borosilicate glass, it can be used for the manufacture of laboratory apparatus, where the extreme conditions of use justify its use.
