The CTS: Ultra-compact safety switch

Compact dimensions, high holding force, flexible mounting

The small dimensions of 135 x 31 x 31 mm, combined with a maximum holding force of 3900 N, make the CTS an attractive solution for many areas of application. Whether swinging or sliding, or for the smallest door radii – with three switch mounting orientations and a universal ball-and-socket actuator, the CTS lends itself to almost any application. The retrofitting of a long escape release with pressure mechanism is also possible at any time. Despite its small dimensions, the switch ensures maximum safety. Based on proven transponder technology, the CTS achieves category 4 /PL e according to EN ISO 13849-1 and meets all requirements of EN ISO 14119.

Versatile – FlexFunction: multiple applications with one device

The real innovation, however, is invisible at first sight. Because it is not in the switch, but in the transponder-coded actuator. It is this in fact which determines the operation of the switch. In other words: the mode of operation of the switch is dictated by the choice of the appropriate actuator. Euchner calls this new patented concept: “FlexFunction”. The customer therefore configures precisely the functionality he needs on his CTS switch with the appropriate actuator. The advantages are obvious: With just one basic device, the user can switch between a guard locking system with process protection or with personal protection and select a high or low coding level. When the actuator is first taught in, the switch is configured and provided with its function. If the requirements change during the life cycle or if the switch has to be mounted in another place, then it is re-parameterized for its new task. Only a new actuator is required for this. The FlexFunction concept thus prepares the CTS switch for future retrofitting and retrofitting measures and brings additional advantages in terms of logistics and ordering process.

Easy integration with applications and systems

Whether as an individual switch, connected in series or integrated into the upper control level – everything is possible with the CTS. The connection cable with connector or with free end offers the right version for every application. In combination with an Euchner IO-Link gateway, the CTS also becomes communication-capable for Industry 4.0 applications that allow extended diagnostics.
