GLASS CERAMIC

Description

VITROCERAMIC glass is the latest addition to our industrial range. Much more recent in design than glass and ceramics, glass-ceramics originated in the failed experiment of a scientist in the Corning laboratory, whose out-of-control oven went from 450°C to 800°C and, in doing so, gave birth to this new product, partially micro-crystallized and partially glassy, with such particular specificities. Glass-ceramics are used in extremely diverse fields, requiring good resistance to thermal shock and very low deformability under heat. Their virtually zero coefficient of expansion makes them an ideal support for certain optical and industrial applications (telescope mirror, optical prism support, control gauges). Among the interesting optical properties for certain industrial applications, it should be noted that the transparent glass-ceramic cuts off a large part of the ultraviolet rays, while allowing the infrared rays to pass.
