AZM40

Description

With its dimensions of 119.5 x 40 x 20 mm, the AZM40 is the smallest electronic interlocking device in the world. It is therefore particularly suitable for small doors and hatches. Thanks to the flexibility of its actuator, the AZM40 adapts to all types of openings, hatches or shutters, whether hinged or sliding. This angular flexibility also allows easy installation of the interlock in tight and hard-to-reach spaces. In addition, the AZM40 is easily mounted on standard 40 mm profiles without overhang.

"The interlocking device meets the needs of most users looking for compact solutions, because saving space is a decisive cost argument in the design, construction or operation of machines", explains Stephan Frick, manager produced at Schmersal. Despite its small size, the AZM40 is distinguished by a high holding force of 2,000 newtons. “An interlock must be chosen ensuring that it resists the forces to which it is exposed. With a holding force of 2,000 newtons, the user opts for safety in accordance with standard recommendations,” explains Stephan Frick.

The integrated RFID technology makes it possible to achieve the "high" level of coding. In accordance with the requirements of the DIN ISO 14119 standard, this device thus offers increased protection against attempted fraud.

The AZM40 adopts the bistable operating principle: it maintains its position in the event of a power failure. This ensures safe operation in all operating states of the machine. Even in the event of a power failure, the guard remains safely closed in the presence of dangerous inertial movements. Another advantage of the bistable operating principle is the lowest energy consumption, since the interlock only consumes electricity while locking or unlocking the door.

For personal protection applications (monitored interlock), the safety outputs are activated when the guard door is closed and the interlock is locked.
An AZM40 B version is planned. Without intrusion into the machine after an access authorisation, this version allows immediate restarting without a reset procedure, the safety outputs having remained active during the stop.
