HDS Series Modular Position Switches

The Schmersal Group presents a new series of switching devices for heavy industry.

The modular HDS series unites various functions for the first time, making them suitable for the most diverse applications.

The base of the new range of emergency stop with cable or limit switch consists of a uniform housing, offered in two variants: either in plastic (Duroplast) or in gray cast iron.

The plastic variant is resistant to aggressive agents and media and is therefore particularly suitable for port logistics or loading and unloading activities, as well as for the processing of fertilisers, minerals and phosphates in the agricultural industry, but also for many other areas. The robust gray cast iron version, on the other hand, is suitable for example for the mining industry, the bulk materials industry and the extractive industry.

In terms of functions, there are also two basic variants: emergency stop in the form of an emergency pull-cord switch and position monitoring. The position monitoring basic switch can be combined with various actuators. Classic applications : emergency stop triggering, belt offset monitoring on bulk material conveyors, limit switch monitoring in the steel industry or filling level monitoring in raw material silos, storage process, etc. Thanks to the degree of protection IP66 and IP67 , the switching devices are also suitable for use in extreme ambient conditions.

As an option, all basic variants can be connected to the Dupline plant bus or AS-i Safety at Work , which allows simple and fast interconnection and serial wiring of the switches as well as improved transmission of diagnostic data . Connection terminals with CAGE CLAMP technology also reduce assembly time.

All HDS devices meet the requirements imposed on a safety switch, with numerous international approvals : CE (Europe), UL (USA), CCC (China), EAC (Russia), Ex, IECEx (international explosion protection) and INMETRO (Brazil, South America).
